Elaine Morgan, nee Floyd, (1920-2013) was born in Hopkinstown, Pontypridd. She studied English at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and went on to have a long and varied career as a writer. In the 1950s she won a writing competition in Statesman and from that point she began regularly producing various writings and later joined the BBC when they began to produce her plays.
